Part camp, part vamp, part tramp, The Angoras are fast becoming the band everyone's talking about.

The Angora Challenge

The Angoras like it the way they play it: Hard. With their simmering blend of punk, rock, and garage, The Angoras promise to turn the veritable jaded music listener into a loyal drooling fan. How? By combining 3-part, male/female harmonies and dirty distortion into rock and roll pleasure. The Angoras are two glitter-ey guitar sirens with two Michaels driving the rhythm-seriously sassy. You will be entertained.

The History of The Angoras

The Angoras started knocking the socks off fans and critics alike in May 1998. They have played with many bands that would impress you: Social Distortion, X, Supersuckers, The Fastbacks, The Humpers, The Angry Samoans, Murder City Devils, Pretty Girls Make Graves, and Dave Vanian and his Phantom Chords, to name but a few.

Who Are The Angoras?

The members are Paula, Laurita, Mikhel, and Mikey. Paula sings, growls, and plays rhythm guitar with an abandon not often seen in today’s flavorless, mass-market vocalists. Laurita burns up the stage with her hot licks and smoldering vocals. Mikhel sings and plays solid crushing bass lines with occasional uncontrollable frenzy. Mikey rounds out the line-up with precision skin bashing and he sings like a birdie! The Angoras combine their mélange of influences into the rock you will know and love.

Where They Are Now

Since the beginning, The Angoras have contributed music to Fox's Blue Torch TV, episodes of MTV's Undressed, and the movies, Down and Out with the Dolls and Prey for Rock and Roll, starring Gina Gershon. The Angoras have also released a self-titled CD as well as contributed to several national and international compilations. Their new song, (Veronica's Stress), is featured on Volcom Entertainment's compilation, (The Only Constant is Change), released in July 2004.

The Future

Billy Zoom, of seminal Los Angeles punk band X, collaborated with The Angoras to create an as-yet unreleased EP-coming to a store near you! The Angoras are poised for tour in the fall of 2004, and are recording their newest songs now. Stay tuned for more rock adventures with The Angoras.
